Dyess's November Runs Through Building 7106, Except During Two Weeks

October 22, 2026

On the 7th Force Support Squadron's November 2026 calendar, the evenings keep landing at one address. The Hangar Center, Building 7106, and the Bomb Shelter Bar inside it host nearly every adult social night on the base calendar between now and mid-December. Kids' programming works differently. It runs on a weekly loop that hardly changes from one week to the next. Two stretches this month don't follow those patterns, the Veteran's Day days and Thanksgiving week. Facilities close, the calendar empties out midweek, and those are the days worth planning around.

One building, five evenings in November

Here are the adult-facing evenings at the Hangar Center in November, in order:

  1. Fall Wreath Building, Tuesday, Nov. 3, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hangar Center, Building 7106. Advance registration is required. The cost is $15 for Club Members and $20 for non-members.
  2. Using a Glowforge to Craft: Woodland Cutout Cloche, Thursday, Nov. 5, 3 to 9 p.m. at the Hangar Center. The event page doesn't list a price or a registration process, so call ahead.
  3. First Friday: Dunder Mifflin Edition, Friday, Nov. 6, at the Bomb Shelter Bar, Building 7106. Admission is free for Club Members and $5 for non-members, and there's "a warm bowl of Kevin's famous chili." The calendar shows 4 to 7 p.m., but the event details say 4 to 6 p.m., so plan on the earlier end time.
  4. Table Game Night, Friday, Nov. 13, at the Bomb Shelter Bar: board games, card battles and tabletop wargaming. It's a recurring second-Friday series, so it comes back Dec. 11. The calendar runs it from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. and the series description says it ends at 9.
  5. The Office Trivia Night, Friday, Nov. 20, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bomb Shelter Bar.

That works out to three Fridays in a row at the same bar, plus two crafting nights, all in one building. You learn one parking lot and you've covered most of the month's evenings out. The Club Member pricing also comes up again and again. On the wreath night and First Friday, members either pay less or get in free.

The pattern continues into December. EFMP Crafting with Santa takes over the Hangar Center on Thursday, Dec. 10, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., with youth and adult crafts, Santa activities, dinner and refreshments. It's for families enrolled in EFMP, and registration goes through the Military & Family Readiness Center. One November night for EFMP families is on the calendar too. EFMP Date Night "Holiday Centerpieces" on Nov. 5, 6 to 7:30 p.m., is adults only, includes a light dinner, and is open only to families enrolled in EFMP.

Most of these listings assume you have base access, and few event pages say who can attend. If you're bringing a guest, call the facility first.

The kids' week barely changes

Kids' programming follows a set weekly schedule:

  • Monday: Tinker Time, 2 to 6:30 p.m. Building blocks, magnets and marbles. It's come-and-go for all ages and runs every Monday except federal holidays. The contact number is 325-696-6873.
  • Tuesday morning: Lego Builders, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Dyess Library, with Legos, KEVA Blocks and more. Also come-and-go for all ages.
  • Tuesday evening: Dungeons & Dragons Short Sessions, 4:30 to 7 p.m. All experience levels are welcome, and character sheets and dice are provided.
  • Some Saturdays: library Dungeons & Dragons, 1:30 to 5:30 p.m., billed as a family-friendly game for new and experienced players. It's on the calendar Nov. 14, Nov. 28 and Dec. 12.
  • Saturday nights: Thunder Alley Cosmic Bowling at Dyess Lanes, 398 Ave C. That's every Saturday in November after the 1st, plus Dec. 5 and Dec. 12.

Before you go bowling, know that the two schedules don't match. The calendar lists Thunder Alley from 5 to 9 p.m. The bowling page says Saturdays 6 to 10 p.m. for $15 with shoe rental, while also listing Saturday regular hours as 1 to 9 p.m. Call 325-696-4166 to confirm. Dyess Lanes has 16 lanes and a snack bar.

A few one-time events fall on top of that weekly loop:

  • Turkey Shoot Out, Saturday, Nov. 7, noon to 2 p.m. A free Dyess Youth Programs free-throw contest with age divisions for 3–4, 5–7, 8–10, 11–12 and 13–18. The number is 325-696-4797.
  • Winter sports registration opens Monday, Nov. 16, for basketball, cheer and wrestling.
  • Knife Making, Saturday, Nov. 7. A hands-on class for beginners and hobbyists with materials and instruction included. You need eye protection and leather gloves.
  • Norwegian Foot March, Thursday, Nov. 12, starting at 5:30 a.m. It's 18.6 miles carrying a 24-pound rucksack, costs $30, and has qualifying times listed by age and sex for ages 18 and up.

Week one of the break: Nov. 10 and 11

The calendar marks Tuesday, Nov. 10 as Veteran's Day Family Day and Wednesday, Nov. 11 as Veteran's Day. Both are all-day entries with no other details. To see what changes, you have to check each facility's posted hours.

The Fitness Center at 525 Ave B is normally staffed weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Family Down Days and holidays it switches to 24-hour access, the same setup it uses on weekends. 24-hour access only works if you've applied, which means filling out the form and bringing it to the front desk with your CAC. If you plan to work out on either of these days, drop the form off the week before.

Outdoor Recreation at 926 Louisiana Drive is closed on Family Days, holidays and every Wednesday. That makes Nov. 10 and Nov. 11 a two-day closure. Its next open day is Thursday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you're renting gear for a long weekend, pick it up by Monday, Nov. 9. The Deadwood Cafe posts that it's closed on holidays.

The Tuesday kids' programs are the one thing that doesn't add up. Lego Builders and D&D Short Sessions are both on the calendar for Nov. 10, but both describe themselves as skipping holidays. Call the library before you head over that morning.

Week two of the break: Thanksgiving

The calendar lists "Thanksgiving Break for School (ABI WY)" from Monday, Nov. 23 through Saturday, Nov. 28. With school out all week, FSS has less scheduled than in any other week this month. Here's everything on it:

  • Monday, Nov. 23: Tinker Time, 2 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 24: Lego Builders in the morning and D&D Short Sessions from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 25–27: only the school-break entry.
  • Saturday, Nov. 28: library D&D, 1:30 to 5:30 p.m., then Thunder Alley at night.

So the base calendar has nothing for the middle of that week, Wednesday through Friday, including the day after Thanksgiving. The fitness center's holiday policy gives 24-hour access to anyone already approved, and Outdoor Recreation is closed on holidays. If you have kids home that week, sign them up for the earlier events now. The Turkey Shoot Out on Nov. 7 and the Nov. 14 library D&D game fall before the break, and the second-Friday game night comes back after it, on Dec. 11.

One errand that's open around the clock

The Dyess Car Wash reopened Sept. 25, 2026, after equipment repairs and a payment-system upgrade. The facility is cashless now, which cuts down on the need for change machines, cash handling and the maintenance that comes with them, according to the Dyess AFB news story. Misty Mayo, president and CEO of the Development Corporation of Abilene, cut the ribbon alongside Col. Gregory Savella, commander of the 7th Mission Support Group. According to a DVIDS photo description, the sign says it's open 24/7. On Nov. 10, 11 or Thanksgiving Day, Outdoor Recreation is closed on those days, but the sign says the car wash is open, and you'll need something other than cash to pay.

The weeks after

After Thanksgiving, the calendar fills back in. Tinker Time is back Nov. 30, Lego Builders and D&D Short Sessions on Dec. 1, Thunder Alley on Dec. 5, Table Game Night on Dec. 11, and library D&D plus bowling on Dec. 12. Add the Bomb Shelter Bar's Friday events, Hangar Center craft nights and the Monday and Tuesday kids' programs to your own calendar, then mark Nov. 10–11 and Nov. 25–27 as the days you'll have to plan something yourself.
